Centre of Movement was founded on the belief that through movement we have the capacity to reconnect our nervous system to it’s innate wisdom. Re-wiring and creating new neural pathways through neuroplasticity to find ease, co-ordination and pleasure in life.Centre of Movement is a specialised rehabilitation clinic that
combines the gold standard treatment modalities and equipment for children with neurological and developmental delays.
Modalities include Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy, the Feldenkrais Method, the Tomatis method, Cuevas Medek Exercises (CME), Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI), Rhythmic Movement Training (RMTi) and Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI),
Equipment used includes the Trexo Robotic Walker, Therasuit Method, Ceiling Hoist Gait Training, and Tomatis Listening Systems. Consultations can be registered with NDIS, Medicare, DVA and Work Cover and can be eligible for rebates from private health insurance.
Services
Intensive Therapy Programs
With a deep understanding of the importance of intensive intervention, we offer specialised programs that provide concentrated and targeted therapy sessions. These programs are carefully tailored to address the specific needs of each child, whether they are navigating neurological conditions, developmental delays, or orthopedic challenges.
Children's Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy looks at how a child, their environment or their daily activities can be modified to help the nervous system function more effectively and allow them to thrive.
Exercise Physiology
An Exercise Physiologist is an Allied Health Professional specialising in exercise prescription and rehabilitation for the development of skilled motor performance.
Children's Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy at Centre of Movement utilises a holistic approach aimed at developing a child’s movement ability through imaginative play, functional movement training and facilitation of developmental milestones.
Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI)
DMI is a psychomotor therapy designed to facilitate the development of gross motor skills in children with neurological, genetic, and developmental disorders.
Tomatis Listening Systems
The Tomatis Method® is a non-invasive sound therapy which primes the brain’s “hearing and listening” capabilities through a process of re-wiring.
TheraSuit Method
The TheraSuit Method increases the feedback the body sends to the brain. It aims to align the body to reestablish correct postural alignment and plays a crucial role in normalising muscle tone, sensory and vestibular function.
The Feldenkrais Method
The Feldenkrais Method is accessible through individual sessions called Functional Integration or in a group setting called Awareness through Movement lessons.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy or ‘water therapy’ provides an excellent and therapeutic environment for exercise and rehabilitation which offers numerous advantages over land based exercise due to less gravity.
Gait Training
Gait training or treadmill motor training hopes to initiate motor skill learning with progressively guided stepping patterns when the integrity of musculosketetal and nervous systems is compromised by disease or trauma.
